Retro Adidas Samba – new color

January 13th, 2010 · No Comments

I’ve posted the Adidas samba shoe before, but I just came across a new color scheme for the shoe that I really like. The white, black, and “gum” colors really give the shoe a much cleaner retro look; in my opinion, the former black color scheme, although still available, just doesn’t look as good.

And just a little recap on the shoe, just in case you didn’t see the previous post: the Adidas Sambas are a popular indoor soccer (and casual) shoe that have been manufactured for more than thirty years.

A Retro Eco-Friendly Shoe: Patagonia Bagley

January 13th, 2010 · No Comments

Patagonia started out as a small climbing gear company. Since the late 90’s this company expanded to sell skiing, surfing, paddling, snowboarding, trail running, and casual clothing products while establishing itself as brand known for the highest quality merchandise, social responsibility, and environmental conscientiousness.

Although Patagonia products will cost you a little bit extra, it’s usually worth the investment knowing that you’re buying the highest quality product and that your money is going to support an honest company.

Alright, now let’s get to the shoe. The Bagley’s don’t stray at all from the Patagonia brand and reputation. Much of the shoe is built using recycled materials, while the EVA insole and sturdy construction provide for a very solid shoe. But what I like about the Bagley’s most, is that they are able to balance “outdoorsy” performance and quality with a retro look. The “coal dust leather” color scheme is natural, and at the same time gives the shoe a classy look.

Retro Vans Shoes

July 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Nothing shows retro style like a pair of retro vans shoes.

Vans are built as skating shoes, but they are mostly worn as just casual sneakers. The skating culture vans is known for really adds a new twist to a retro outfit. What I like about a pair of vans is the authenticity of the sneaker. You can wear the same shoe someone wore in 1960, or atleast a similar style.

The simplicity of vans make them a great adition to any retro outfit. They look tight with anything. Just take for example the Authentic Core Classics, one of Vans most popular shoes. There really isn’t really much to distinguish the shoe, its extremely simple in its design, but when someone sees the shoe they know its Vans without even seeing the logo. They may not know its the Authentic Core Classics, but they will almost definately know its an awesome pair of retro vans.

The Reebok NPC Uks are some very original retro shoes. They sport a solid white leather base with bright yellow and green stripes (other color variations are also available). These athletic inspired shoes are great casual shoes, with a lot of flavor. The Reebok NPC UK’s go for around $60. They are comfortable shoes and well worth the sixty bucks. Reebok doesn’t let down with the NPC UK’s.
